High Fructose Corn Syrup and Mercury

According to the Journal of Pediatrics, mercury is used to produce thousands of products including food ingredients like high fructose corn syrup. This product enhances the shelf life of processed food, and mercury is used in part as a preservative. In this study, 45% of samples analyzed had significant levels of mercury.
