Get Healthy with Blueberries

I love picking blueberries with my family every summer - they're loaded with antioxidants and great in smoothies. I recently read an article by Dr. Sherry Rogers that I want to share with you which explains even more wellness benefits of blueberries.

"With the blueberry season around the corner, how about really tanking up to increase your bone strength density? It turns out the delicious blueberry contains lots of God's healing phytochemicals and flavanoids that are potent cancer-killers and antioxidants. And blueberries' anthocyanidins actually help recycle your vitamins, plus they are anti-inflammatory and improve your blood vessel health. And get this. Blueberries prevent bone loss. Time to tank up and eat as many as you can a day while they are fresh and local (as opposed to those questionably fumigated, irradiated, pesticided, moldy ones from far away). How about a blueberry intestinal cleanse? Simply eat only blueberries for a few days. It will flood your system with phytonutrients while redusing your load of a multitude of toxins. You may even become a blueblood!"

(Dr. Sherry Rogers, "Blueberries for Bones?" in Total Wellness, June 2009)

Consider today's verse, Proverbs 3:8, "It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones." My recommended detox cleanse for blueberries involves only two steps. First, go down to Moorehead's Blueberry Farm on 1314 and work up a good detoxifying sweat picking blueberries for a few hours. Then, follow Dr. Roger's advice and eat nothing but blueberries for one to three days for a good cleanse of the toxins in your body. We hope to see you down there!
